you write because you have something to say.

Stories To Be Told

There are so many stories to be told, waiting to be shared. On this page you’ll find a collection of my short stories, three or more at a time. The stories will change every month, so make sure to come back often to discover what’s new. And don’t worry, they’re all short some as short as 50 words and others a bit longer. But no matter how long they are, they’ll take up a small amount of your time.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading them and that they’ll make you think and brighten your day.

These are work of fiction. Any names or characters, businesses or places, events or incidents, are fictitious. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental. All work is the creation of a living, breathing person. ©2025 by Gina M. Pérez all rights reserved.

One is the Loneliest Number When it Comes to Family

One is the Loneliest Number When it Comes to Family

My family of four dwindled down to one after mom’s passing — me.

Because she passed at home, the police needed to come. An officer commented, seeing a family photo, “You have a pretty family.”

And that’s when reality slapped me — can you be a family if there is only one?

The World Outside My Window

The world outside my window is filled with interesting characters. Some are dressed up; others look like they tumbled out of bed. Some walk alone, others with their four-legged companions.

The four-legged are my favorites. They take the time to see what’s around them, sniff and pee on the flowers.

The Butterfly Within

The Butterfly

Within

Nancy was captivated by the butterfly in front of her. As she shed the last restraints of her chrysalis, it reminded her of her own life. She, too, freed herself from her constraints and emerged with a new purpose and drive.

Spreading her wings, she flew into her new life.
