Just remember to show compassion and never miss the opportunity to love and care for them. Call them, visit them often, and be present in their lives. And if possible, open your home to them. But most importantly, open your heart.

The elderly still have a lot to say — to share. We can learn so much from them; don’t deprive yourself of the opportunity to get a first-hand account of events that shaped our world. You will be surprised how much they know, and what new or different perspectives they can add to our lives; and, us to theirs.

If you are fortunate to have your dad, give him what he really wants -- to spend time with you.
